EXCURSION TO KSAR GHILANE - CHENINI AND MATMATA
DINNER AND NIGHT IN THE TUNISIAN DESERT
EXCURSION FROM DJERBA OVER 2 DAYS
We will pick you up at your hotel in Djerba, early in the morning
and we will leave in the direction of ksar Ghilane by the Roman way.
You will see along the route the very beautiful semi-desert landscapes of the Berber region, you can stop where you want to take photos, breaks are planned.
We will start with the salt lake of Chahbanias, a very surprising place with changing colors.
Then we will visit Chenini, an ancient Berber village, then Guermassa, where we will have lunch.
Then direction Ksar Ghilane where the stone desert gives way to the desert of ocher sand.
At ksar Ghilane, you can take a ride on a camel or quad, (Optional).
After a coffee break, we will reach the Saharan camp by 4X4, 20 km from the track south of Ksar Ghilane.
The comfortable camp is organized around the restaurant - bar, with Saharan tents, the toilets and the kitchen are worthy of a 3-star hotel.
You will attend the ceremony of baking bread in the sand, then after a good dinner, you can walk in the dunes, in the silence of the desert and admire the starry sky if the weather is clear, then overnight in your private tent .
The next day, after breakfast and free time in the desert, we will leave in the direction of Ksar Hadada, and Matmata where scenes from the film Star Wars were filmed.
We will have lunch in the village of Tamezret.
After these 2 full days, return to Djerba and drop off at your Hotel.
Very beautiful and most visited site located 18 km west of Tataouine, perched on a ridge. You will discover there the Berber cave dwellings, built in the rock.
The southernmost of the Tunisian oases and one of the gates of the Tunisian Sahara desert, the oasis is fueled
by a hot spring in which you can bathe.
It serves as a refuge for around fifty families of nomads living
the exploitation of the date palm, the breeding of goats
Is famous for its artisanal wool weavings, in particular the traditional bakhnoug woven on vertical looms,
then colored and embroidered. The bakhnoug is a long Berber shawl in dark wool decorated with lighter patterns.
An Amazigh museum is located in the village museum Monji Bouras this Berber traditions and history of Tamezret.
Is the name of a Berber tribe which is itself descended from the Temzit. Clinging to the mountainside, this village is renowned for its remarkable cave dwellings which make it
one of the high places of Tunisian tourism
Departure from your place of stay in Djerba in 4x4 direction Tataouine.
Visit the Tataouine spice market.
Guided tour of the Berber village of Chenini.
Road to Ksar Ghilane, oasis surrounded by immense sand dunes.

Return to your place of stay in Djerba.
